The short answer

The Festa Oven is a 16-inch outdoor propane pizza oven that rotates the stone for you and gives the top and bottom burners their own knobs. Few ovens have both. Of those that do, it is the lightest. It is rated to 950°F and costs $649.99.

**Best for:** anyone who wants Neapolitan, New York and Detroit pizza from one oven, without turning every pie by hand.

## The 15-second problem

Watch anyone cook on a classic outdoor pizza oven and you will see the same routine. Launch. Wait. Reach in with a turning peel. Quarter turn. Wait. Turn again. CNN Underscored's testers found the Ooni Koda 16 needs a quarter turn every 15 seconds. America's Test Kitchen tells Gozney Arc owners to rotate every 20 to 30 seconds. Miss a turn and the side facing the flame chars while the far side stays pale.

That is not a skill problem. It is a design problem: when the flame sits on one side, the pizza has to keep moving. Ooni seems to agree. In March 2026 it started selling a battery-powered rotating stone, from $329, as an add-on for its Koda 2 ovens.

Image: Two-panel drawing: in a traditional dome oven a hand turns the pizza with a peel; in the Festa Oven the stone turns the pizza by itself while the top and bottom burners heat it (https://izocrkwqthourkgkmpkl.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/page-media/articles/inline/1792440573331-a6rs72xd6ha.webp)

Left: a fixed stone and a flame on one side, so you turn the pizza by hand. Right: the Festa Oven turns the stone for you, with heat from above and below.

We built rotation into the Festa Oven from day one. Then we solved the problem almost nobody talks about: deciding where the heat goes.

Launch it once. The stone does the turning.

Part 1

## A stone that turns itself

The 16-inch stone is cordierite, the heat-tough ceramic used for kiln shelves. It rides on a motorized turntable that carries the pizza past the flame in a slow, steady circle, so every slice sees the same heat and the crust browns evenly all the way around.

**Cleaning takes a minute.** When the oven is cool, the stone and turntable lift straight out. Brush the stone dry, vacuum the crumbs, drop it back in. Anything baked on burns off at full heat. No tools, no soap, no water on the stone.

Image: The 16-inch cordierite stone seated on the Festa Oven turntable (https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0712/9766/3228/files/FESTA_Studio-30.jpg?width=1400)

Image: Cutaway drawing of the Festa Oven with the stone removed, showing the empty spoked turntable sitting in the pan (https://izocrkwqthourkgkmpkl.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/page-media/articles/inline/1792440550657-y1sq01bnkce.webp)

Stone out, oven cool. Brush, vacuum, drop it back in.

Part 2

## Two burners, two knobs

Most portable ovens have one flame and one dial. The Festa Oven has a top burner, rated 16,500 BTU per hour, that rolls heat across the dome and the toppings, and a bottom burner, rated 3,200 BTU per hour, under the stone. Each has its own knob.

So you choose the balance between a blistered top and a crisp base. The oven does not choose for you.

Image: Cutaway drawing of the Festa Oven: a row of top burner flames along the back wall rolls across the insulated ceiling and down onto the pizza, a separate bottom burner heats the stone from below, the stone turns on a spoked turntable, and the knobs are marked Bottom and Top (https://izocrkwqthourkgkmpkl.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/page-media/articles/inline/1792440594370-t3iohtoxti.webp)

The top flame rolls across the ceiling and onto the toppings. A separate bottom burner heats the stone from below. One knob for each.

Neapolitan

Both burners high. 60 to 90 seconds.

New York

Top lower, bottom steady. 3 to 4 minutes.

Detroit pan

Top off, bottom on. The pan crisps from below.

### Why total BTU is the wrong number to shop by

Spec sheets love big BTU totals. The Halo Versa 16 lists 21,100 BTU across two burners, but one knob runs both, so you can turn the whole oven up or down and never change the balance between top and bottom. Retailers list the Ooni Koda 16 at about 29,000 BTU, all from one L-shaped burner on one side.

More fuel is not more control. What changes your pizza is where the heat lands, and whether you decide.

A few other ovens now pair a rotating stone with separate top and bottom knobs, including Bertello's new SimulFIRE 16 Rotating. The Festa Oven is the lightest of them, about 15 pounds lighter than the Bertello.

Image: Close-up of the Festa Oven's two control knobs, one for the top burner and one for the bottom burner (https://www.festapizzaco.com/videos/festa-hero-poster.jpg)

### Heat that gets there and stays there

With both burners on high, the Festa Oven is ready for pizza in about 15 minutes. It is rated up to 950°F (510°C). The built-in gauge reads oven and stone together across the 750 to 850°F green zone where most pizzas bake, so you are not guessing. The Ooni Koda 16 has no built-in gauge at all.

Double-walled insulation keeps that heat in the oven instead of on your patio, so the stone comes back up to temperature while you stretch the next pizza.

Image: Checking the Festa Oven stone with an infrared thermometer (https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0712/9766/3228/files/IMG_2146.jpg?width=1400)

Part 3

## Built to travel

Image: Carrying the Festa Oven by its carry straps across a campsite (https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0712/9766/3228/files/exec-1e1d2a16-ee48-4cb7-9d27-f7f65b9bc0fb.png?width=1200)

Strap it, grab it, go.

A pizza oven that only works on the patio is half an oven. The Festa Oven weighs 44.75 pounds and measures 21.25 by 22 by 15.25 inches, so it fits in a truck bed or a trunk and sets up on a tailgate, a picnic table or a campsite.

The rotating stone runs on the included AC adapter at home, or on four AA batteries anywhere else. No outlet, no generator, and the stone still turns. The burners run on a standard 20 lb propane tank, the same one your grill uses.

Power

## Built like we would own one. We do.

Image: Festa founder Jesse Pricer launching a pizza into the Festa Oven with the Utah mountains behind him (https://izocrkwqthourkgkmpkl.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/page-media/studio/jpeg/38a13b01-661a-4734-a588-2597ffa88ce2.jpg)

Most ovens in this class run one burner, or split one gas supply two ways. The Festa Oven has two burners, two valves and two separate combustion chambers. That is why you can turn the top flame down, or off, while the floor stays hot.

That choice costs us. A Festa Oven takes nearly twice the parts of a single-burner oven and two to three times the assembly time. We pay it on every unit, because it is the difference between hoping a pizza turns out and steering it while it bakes.

Festa started in Utah. When you call us, a person who knows the oven picks up. The parts you touch every cook are the parts we obsessed over:

Body

Double-walled and insulated, so heat stays in

Burners and valves

Two burners, two valves, two combustion chambers

Motor and turntable

Spoked turntable that lifts out with the stone to clean

Gauge and ignition

Built-in gauge, auto-spark igniter

Part 5

## What you pay, and what you get

Rotation and separate top and bottom heat are the two features that change how you cook. Here is what each brand charges to get you there, or close. List prices on each maker's site, October 16, 2026.

$649.99

Festa Oven

Both features built in. Built-in gauge. 44.75 lb.

$729.99

Bertello SimulFIRE 16 Rotating

Both features, plus wood. First units ship October 2026. 59.5 lb.

$799

Ooni Koda 2 with Rotating Stone

Rotation as an AA-powered add-on. Two side burners on one dial.

$999.99

Gozney Arc XL

One side burner. No rotation.

If the lowest price is all that matters, the Solo Stove Pi Prime (about $399), the Halo Versa 16 (often $499.99) and the Ooni Koda 16 ($499 on sale) cost less. With the Solo Stove and the Ooni you will turn every pizza by hand. With the Halo, one knob sets both burners.

## Quick answers

What is the best rotating pizza oven in 2026?

If you want one oven for every style, look for two things: a rotating stone and separate top and bottom burner controls. The Festa Oven has both, weighs 44.75 lb, is rated up to 950°F and costs $649.99. Bertello's SimulFIRE 16 Rotating also has both and adds wood, at $729.99 and 59.5 lb.

Which pizza ovens have a rotating stone?

Built in: the Festa Oven, Halo Versa 16, Bertello SimulFIRE 16 Rotating, Witt ETNA Rotante 16, Big Horn 16-inch Auto-Rotating and the All-Clad 16-inch rotating oven. Ooni sells a rotating stone as an add-on for its Koda 2 ovens.

Which outdoor pizza ovens let you control top and bottom heat separately?

With a rotating stone: the Festa Oven, the Bertello SimulFIRE 16 Rotating and the Witt ETNA Rotante 16. Without rotation: the Big Horn 15-inch Dual Burner. The Halo Versa 16 has top and bottom burners but one knob for both.

Is a rotating pizza oven worth it?

If you do not want to turn every pizza by hand, yes. Fixed-stone ovens need a turn every 15 to 30 seconds to keep the side nearest the flame from burning. A rotating stone browns the crust evenly with no turning.

Festa Oven or Ooni Koda 16?

Both bake a 16-inch pizza on propane. The Koda 16 costs less on sale but has one burner, a fixed stone and no built-in gauge. The Festa Oven rotates the stone and lets you set top and bottom heat separately.

Festa Oven or Halo Versa 16?

Both have a rotating 16-inch stone and two burners. The Halo runs both burners from one knob and costs less. The Festa Oven gives each burner its own knob, so you can turn the top off for Detroit-style pan pizza.

Festa Oven or Bertello SimulFIRE 16 Rotating?

Both rotate the stone and have separate top and bottom knobs. The Bertello also burns wood. The Festa Oven costs less at list price, weighs about 15 pounds less and has a built-in temperature gauge.

Can you make Detroit-style pizza in an outdoor pizza oven?

Yes, if you can turn the top heat down while the bottom stays on. On the Festa Oven you switch the top burner off and let the bottom burner crisp the pan.

Can you take the Festa Oven tailgating or camping?

Yes. It weighs 44.75 lb, runs on a standard 20 lb propane tank, and the rotating stone runs on four AA batteries when there is no outlet. Festa carry straps are sold separately for $19.99.
